Fear is something that almost every single one of us experiences but it keeps us from so much in our life. The fear of heights keeps us from beholding magnificent views, the fear of flying prevents us from admiring all the astonishing places in the world, and the fear of losing someone keeps up from enjoying precious moments with the people we love. But the worst fear is the one that keeps us from exploring our true potential in life-the fear of failure.

Failure is the first step towards success. Tell us one successful person in the world who hasn’t faced failure in his/ her life at one point of the other. JK Rowling, who is renowned as one of the best-selling fictional authors of all time faced loads of rejection. A dozen publishers rejected her first Harry Potter book before being accepted by one for a small advance. Walt Disney was accused of lack of creativity at the beginning of his career, but that did not stop him from achieving greatness.

#1. Figure Out The Cause Of Your Fear

The first step towards conquering the fear of failure is comprehending the origin of the fear. Sit down, relax, take deep breaths, question yourself about when was this fear of failure formed and then observe. When you understand the origin of your fear of failure, you contemplate how far from accurate that is. This origin could be anything; over-protective parents or a strict teacher who did what they thought was best for you. But in the process, made you fearful of failing at anything that you do. Your fear could have originated from something that you tried as a child but got laughed at when you failed. When you think about these things, you will realize that it was not really your fault at the time, but you still let negative feelings towards failure develop within you.

#2. Keep Your Attention On The Goal

What could be more effective in conquering your fear of failure than keeping your eye on the result and giving your best to get to it? Your fear of failure will try to cripple you and make you give up in your way to success, but it is your job not to let it affect you. When you feel the dark clouds of fear shadowing you, try to remember what you are in for and put in all your efforts to achieve what you wish for. Do not let the fear distract you. Fear is just your mind playing games on you. The reality is right in front of your eyes, and it is that you are close to your goals and all you need at this point is keep going.

#3. Acknowledge Avoidance And Keep Moving Forward

Our fear makes us avoid things. When we fear that we might fail at something, we spend our time working on things that do not matter, instead of things that will take us to our objective. This avoidance of tasks and responsibilities is what we have to acknowledge and deal with if we want to conquer our fear of failure. In order to move ahead in life, we have to get rid of this avoidance and the mundane things in life and keep our eyes on the prize at the end of the road.

#4. Develop The Never Say Never Attitude

If you have noticed, all the successful people in life have one thing in common. They have a never say never attitude and are always willing to take up new challenges in life. They are bold and do not care about not being able to get the desired outcome from a venture. What they do is they make the best decisions as per their abilities and let the chips fall where they may. And since the fortune favors the brave, more times than not, their boldness gets them to success. It is this attitude that you need to develop if you want to get over your fear of failure. Develop determination that no matter what comes in your way and how afraid you are at the moment, you will not deviate from the path you set out on.

#5. Trust The Inner Guide

We all have an inner guide, or you can say, the voices in our head that tell us what we need to do to achieve our goals but the fear of failing that we have dims that voice. Whenever you are afraid of failure, keep faith in yourself and the inner guide who is telling you the way to where you want to be. It is the veil of fear that comes in our way. In moments of fear, we have to keep faith and trust in the inner guide to point us in the direction we want to go and strive to overcome any obstacle that comes our way.

#6. Develop Patience And Faith

Nobody achieved success in one day or moment. Greatness is achieved when you work hard to achieve your goals on a consistent basis. And that requires patience and perseverance. You cannot let any obstacle that comes your way take you off from your path to glory. This way, you are never going to achieve the goal you made for yourself. You have to be patient if you are not getting the result. Failure will teach you a lesson which might help you improve and get to your goals the next time you try. Also, you have to keep faith in yourself. You have the skill and the knowledge you require to get to your target, just keep the faith.
